WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2006


Call To Order:  President, Dick Partridge, called the meeting to order at 2:35 pm.  Board members present were Partridge, Larkin, Valenti and Kacer.  Dick explained that the sole purpose of this Special Board Meeting was to vote to pass or oppose the choice of charity recommended by the Charity Committee.


Charity Committee’s Recommendation:  Charity Committee Event Chairman, Al Majer, presented his committee’s recommendation of its charity of choice for their October 28, 2006, event as the Giving Tree Outreach Program of Tucson and specifically targeted to the Grace Home.  The Giving Tree Outreach is a long-standing and well-respected Tucson area charity dedicated to assisting abused, neglected and homeless children, between the ages of birth and 18, by providing a bed, personal belongings and three meals a day.  Grace Home is a special home that emphasizes emotional, educational, spiritual and social development in a family atmosphere.  Any funds raised by the Charity Event will be designated for approved playground equipment and security fencing.  Any additional funds procured will be for a shower for the children, a dental chair and/or a medical exam table.  Steve Fry will be handling publicity for the event.  Connie Kacer suggested that the committee also have a site visit of Grace Home.  Al said he would contact the director and see the facility.  Dick Partridge stated that budgetary guidelines for the funds should also be in order.  Al stated that the Giving Tree Outreach is a 501( c ) 3 non- profit organization.  The Giving Tree Outreach as the designated charity for the STC’s Charity Event for 2006 was given unanimous approval by the Board with a 4 – 0 vote.
